Nothing About Us, Without Us

Proudly Queer Women-owned, Disability Justice-centered and Pro-Liberation, Rookery Interactive was founded by developers of multiple marginalized identities to make games that tell our stories at the kind of studio we’d like to work for.

We build the games that larger studios are afraid to make and smaller studios lack the resources to create. We consciously create opportunities for talented creatives from underrepresented backgrounds, and we offer developers the dignity, flexibility and support that allows them to achieve their best work.

Diversity at Rookery is more than just a hiring goal. We work everyday to promote equity and inclusion at our multicultural studio. More than 80% of our developers across 5 continents are women and other marginalized genders. At Rookery, representation in games begins in a writers’ room led by Black, Indigenous and People of Color creatives who identify as Disabled, Queer and Trans and continues throughout a game development process that centers marginalized voices.

As a Disabled-led and operated studio, at Rookery accessibility is in our DNA. Our games are built from the ground up around accessible gameplay and are designed in a crunch-free environment that prioritizes staff wellness, mental health and access needs.
